Daylight is one of the most underutilized natural resources in building design - a particular challenge in the gray Pacific Northwest. These studies draw on advanced analysis software (Grasshopper's Ladybug and Honeybee, Diva, and Insight) to identify opportunities to maximize daylight in existing and future projects. These analyses help make decisions about window sizing and placement, skylights, glazing types and the use of shading devices such as louvers and awnings. Additional considerations include managing glare and allowing occupant control while minimizing energy use.
